1. HANS JERG "GEORGE"1 GRETZINGER was born in <Ofterdingen, GY>, and died Apr 1782. He married (1) ELIZABETH. He married (2) BARBARA HALDENWANG.
This is admittedly the weakest link when it comes to ancestors. The assumptions made to make this connection are thin, but it is a good way to start further research. It is fairly assumed that George is the son of Hans Jerg, and there are documents to tie these sons together.
There is also a Jacob Krestzinger married to Gertrude Martinus. Jacob is thought to be a son too, but they were from NY. I have no documents tying him to this family, and he is absolutely not the patriarch of this line. Ludwich Kretzinger's will names his children as beneficiaries.

4. JOHN3 KRETZINGER (LUDWICH2, HANS JERG "GEORGE"1 GRETZINGER) was born 1780 in MD, and died 10 Nov 1850 in Blanchard Twp., Putnam Co., OH. He married MARY MAGDALENA COFFMAN 20 Jan 1807 in Shenandoah Co.,VA, daughter of JACOB COFFMAN. She was born 1790 in VA, and died 1870 in Grant Co., IN. John Kretzinger was born in Germany, in 1780. Along with his father Ludwich and younger brother George, John came to America in about 1784. Around 1810, John married Mary Magdalena Coffman. In 1819, John and Mary purchased property from David Ogden and his wife on Waits Run, Hardy Co. VA. They later sold that property, and on and off over the next twenty years they lived on Waits Run, which is in the mountain region of the Shenandoah, on the West Virginia/Virginia border. It seems after about 40 years of plying his trade as a shoemaker, John and Mary sold their property on Waites Run, in what is now George Washington National Forest, Hardy Co., WV (and still very isolated today). They followed their son John Jr. and his wife Mary Bohn to Licking Co., Ohio, where John Jr. and Mary had homesteaded near Mary’s father Peter Bohn, who was a favorite officer on the staff of the great Napoleon, the first emperor of France. They appear on the 1850 OH Census for Union County, at the ripe ages of 70, and 60 respectively. John would die later that year, on November 10th. After extensive speculation on the subject, it seems that finally this generation can claim one of it’s own in John Kretzinger. According to the 1850 OH federal census, he was born in Maryland. However, some reports, namely a mysterious bio of his son David J., state he was born in Germany. Another bio, George’s son Issac’s, states that George was also born in Germany. He must be born in Germany for certain theories to prove correct, but at this time, there is no hard evidence to indicate this. John has several connections with this generation, in that he owned property on Waites Run, as did many others, and he had dealings with Jesse Orndorf. George Kretzinger’s family and the Orndorfs were rather close, Rachel, marrying Addison Orndorf, and there being Orndorfs who accompanied Kretsingers to IL and KS. A John Kretzinger is also mentioned in Ludwch’s will, and when it was finally settled, it was the heirs of John Kretzinger’s estate that received his share. 6. MARY ELIZABETH3 CRETZINGER (LUDWICH2 KRETZINGER, HANS JERG "GEORGE"1 GRETZINGER) was born 15 Oct 1785 in VA, and died 30 Nov 1836 in German Twp., Clark Co., OH. She married JOHN DIBERT 19 May 1808 in Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD, son of JOHANN DEIBERT and EVA REICH. He was born 08 Oct 1783 in Washington Co., MD, and died 11 Feb 1852 in German Twp., Clark Co., OH. Not much is known about this couple. Shortly after Mary Elizabeth married John, he enlisted in the 1st Regiment (Williamson’s) Ohio Infantry, during the War of 1812. They were well established in the community, John being listed in the 1850 Clark Co. OH census as John Dihbert, with an estate value of 8000 (very large) and his occupation listed as “none”. Their son George operated some sort of brick making business, Jacob had built and operated a “large” flour mill for over 20 years, and Abraham was a successful farmer. 8. MARY3 KRETZINGER (LUDWICH2, HANS JERG "GEORGE"1 GRETZINGER) was born 1793, and died 1865 in Adeline, IL. She married HENRY RINEHART 14 Aug 1812 in Hagerstown, Washington Co., Maryland. He was born 1791, and died 1872. Henry Rinehart, was a native of Maryland, a farmer by occupation and married Mary Kretsinger in that State, and then settled on a farm in Fayette Co., Pa., and there lived and labored, with the good of their children at heart, until 1820, when they sold their interests in the Keystone State and moved to Washington Co., Md. In the latter State, near Hagerstown, he purchased another farm, and until 1845, was there a sturdy tiller of the soil. During that year he came to this county [Ogle Co. IL] with his family, and purchased a farm in Leaf River Township, with the firm determination of making it his home until his death, which resolution was fulfilled. On this place his wife also died, a few years previous to his demise. The olive branches were 11 in number, of whom the Samuel is the eldest; David lives in Polo; Josiah in Leaf River Township; Elizabeth married Isaiah Hiberger; Jonas lives in Linn Co., Iowa, and William in Rockford, Winnebago County, this State. Hiram and Jonas both served in the army, the former dying while in the service. The remaining children are deceased.
