HOLD SERVICES AT MYRTLE

  FOR MRS. MARTHA A. KNODLE

   Death claimed one of Leaf River township’s older citizens when Mrs. Martha Knodle, 82, passed away at  the home of her daughter, Mrs. May Kretsinger, in Elkton, S. D. Mrs. Knodle had not been very well for some time. 

   Martha Ann Knodle, daughter of Joseph and Frances Schelling, was born July 29, 1851, and passed away April 23, 1934.   She was married to Josiah Knodle Feb. 3, 1868.  To this union were born eleven children 4 having preceded her in death, as did her husband.  The surviving children are Mrs. May Kretsinger, Elkton, S. D.; Mrs. Ida Palmer, Polo; Mrs.  Maude Rowland, Winnebago; Arthur Knodle, Leaf River; Alvie, Elizabeth, Minn.; Harry, Clifford, N. D. and Charles of Myrtle; also 30 grandchildren, and 23  great  grandchildren.  She was a member of the Methodist church of Myrtle.

   The remains were brought from Elkton Thursday morning.  Funeral services were held from the Myrtle M. E. church Thursday afternoon, Rev. R.W. Pittman officiating.  Burial was in the Lightsville cemetery.
