Gustava A. Kurtz

    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church in Brookings for Gustava A. Kurtz, 83, of Brookings who died Sunday at a Brookings hospital.  The Rev. Jerome Swanson will officiate.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

    Mr. Kurtz was born September 15, 1890 at Gunns, Austria, Germany, and came to the United states with his parents at the age of three years.  He married Iva Kretsinger in 1912, at Elkton.  The couple farmed in the Elkton Community until 1959, when they retired and moved to Brookings.  Mr. Kurtz was preceded in death by his wife in 1967.

    Survivors include six sons and two daughters; Ervin, Kenneth, and Mrs. Mildred Sutton of Brookings; Norris, Laurence and Raymond of Elkton; Mrs. Irene Baugh, Sacramento, Calif., and Harold, St. Paul, Minn; 30 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as sister Mrs. Louise Bain, Aberdeen, and two brothers, Fred and Edward of White.

    Visitations will be from 2 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rude’s Funeral Home and from 9 until 10 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.
